                                                                                                                                   Award Amount: $1,158,067

The THA Building Hope program provides multiple services for families with children, birth through middle school, living on the following THA properties and their surrounding zip codes: Encore (zip code 33602), Belmont Heights Estates (zip code 33605), and West River (zip code 33607).

Services include:

  • Care Coordination and Case Management
  • ASQ-3 Developmental Screenings and follow-up sessions with parents for preschool-age children
  • Year-Round afterschool and summer programming for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.

Funded by The Children's Board of Hillsborough County, the program utilizes the Health Outcomes of Positive Experiences (HOPE) framework, from Tufts University, that support children and families through Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), engaging and supporting the child, the parent, and the parent-child relationship. Taking a needs-based approach, the program helps families build resiliency, an atmosphere of equity and accessibility with specific areas of focus including: supportive relationships; stable/safe living and equitable environments; constructive social engagement and a sense of connectedness; and learning social and emotional competencies.

Building Hope is built on the Community Health Worker (CHW) model, collaborating with residents from the target communities as staff and volunteers to use their unique experiences to assist in the program design and ongoing implementation.
