Funded by The Children's Board of Hillsborough County, the program utilizes the Health Outcomes of Positive Experiences (HOPE) framework, from Tufts University, that support children and families through Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), engaging and supporting the child, the parent, and the parent-child relationship. Taking a needs-based approach, the program helps families build resiliency, an atmosphere of equity and accessibility with specific areas of focus including: supportive relationships; stable/safe living and equitable environments; constructive social engagement and a sense of connectedness; and learning social and emotional competencies.

Building Hope is built on the Community Health Worker (CHW) model, collaborating with residents from the target communities as staff and volunteers to use their unique experiences to assist in the program design and ongoing implementation.
