Let's talk to you about something that truly matters-creating a safer and more loving environment for our families. The holiday season is upon us, a time for joy, togetherness, and reflection. Let's also use this special time to build a foundation of peace within our homes.

Parents, you hold incredible power in shaping the world your children experience. It begins with what they see and hear. I'm not here to preach, but let's be mindful of the media and video games our kids consume. Academic research shows a direct link between violent content and aggressive behavior. As parents, we can take a stand by choosing entertainment that uplifts, educates, and inspires empathy. This will help foster a home filled with positivity, setting the stage for a brighter future for our youth.

This is my challenge to you this holiday season-reclaim the family table. In today's fast-paced world, we often find ourselves scattered, each family member caught up in their own pursuits. It's time to gather around the kitchen table, to engage in real, heart-to-heart conversations. Listen to your kids, truly listen. Share your wisdom, your experiences. Let the kitchen table be a space where challenges are discussed, where advice is given, and where love and understanding prevail. These moments are precious and can shape the values that guide your family through life's journey.

This holiday season, I invite you to have those meaningful conversations. As you gather around the table, be present, be open, and encourage your children to share their thoughts and concerns. It's a chance to connect on a deeper level, to strengthen the bonds that hold your family together. This is how we build a foundation of trust and understanding that can withstand the challenges our youth face.

Now, onto a more serious note. As we celebrate the holidays, let's also be aware of the realities our youth may be exposed to, particularly concerning gun violence. It's a sad truth that this issue persists in our communities. Parents, let's be proactive. Talk to your kids about the importance of safety, the consequences of violence, and the value of resolving conflicts peacefully. Awareness is the first step toward prevention. I encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with your children about the impact of gun violence. Equip them with knowledge, empower them to make wise choices, and let them know they can always turn to you for guidance. Together, we can create a community that values and protects every life.

As we approach the new year, let's carry the spirit of love and unity into our homes and communities. It starts with us, as parents, as caregivers, as mentors. Let this be a season of joy, hope, and positive transformation. From my heart to yours, happy holidays!
