VI. Update on Funding and Grant Prospects
I. There is a grant submitted for the Hub at Robles, which is not related to Zion. The Robles Hub is a community project which will be part of the Roble Park Village Redevelopment Master Plan. The Hub is a 25,000-35,000 sq foot building on Lake Avenue. The Hub will be a one-stop shop facility, which will include daycare, healthcare, etc. This is a 6-million-dollar project. Congresswomen Kathy Castro's office has accepted the community project and is moving it forward to the appropriate committee for review.
VII. Update on Historic Marker Installation
I. Fred will contact William Porth in the City; he is responsible for the placement of the Marker.
II. The City wants to ensure the Marker is placed in regulations with the City and County rules.
III. Dennis Fernandez stated the Marker Placement committee doesn't decide on where the marker is placed; the placement is through the Marker recipient and right away the division.
NEW BUSINESS
VIII. Communication with Tampa City Councilwoman, District 5, Gwen Henderson, on assistance in placement of Zion Historic Marker and on Zion site acquisition for the memorial park.
I. Fred Hearns will meet with Gwen Henderson when she is appointed to review the significant issues the board is facing. The board will have more leverage in handling open issues with Gwen Henderson. Currently, we need help seeking assistance with the two private owners' parcels, grant funding, and the location of the Marker.
